Obiano bags best governor award in grassroots security in Nigeria







The Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has won award as the best Governor in grassroots security in Nigeria for 2019 by a Certified Chartered Forensic Institute, Security and Forensic Study Nigeria.
The Chairman Anambra State Vigilante Supervisory Committee and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Vigilante Matters Chief Ikechukwu Aduba received the award on behalf of the Governor, during a one day security conscious training and official opening of Anambra Vigilante Group office in Awka.
Presenting the Award, the Director General Security and Forensic study Nigeria, Ambassador Okocha Morgan, expressed gratitude to God for making Chief Obiano the Governor of Anambra State who he said has increased security architecture of Anambra and has designed a well organized vigilante group for effective grassroots security.
He described Chief Obiano as the best Governor in the advancement of grassroots security which he said has attracted investors to Anambra State.
Receiving the certificate on behalf of the Governor, Chief Aduba thanked Ambassador Okocha for recognizing the efforts of Governor Obiano in maintaining maximum security in Anambra, noting that Governor Obiano has equipped all security agencies in the State for enhanced security of life and property.
Contributing, the National President Anambra State Association of Town Unions, (ASATU), Chief Alex Onukwue and the Secretary Anambra Vigilante Group Advisory Committee, Chief Ostar Christopher thanked God that Anambra is now the safest State in Nigeria through the efforts of Governor Obiano who they said has made vigilante activities functional in every Communities and as well has equipped all security agencies with necessary logistics.
A resource person and the Anambra State Director Security and Forensic Study Nigeria, Mr. Walter Okoli said that Anambra Vigilante Group is meant for able bodied men and women that want to pursuit career in security to become security personnel.
Some vigilante personnel and their teams including Chief Ethel Iheri Commander Nkwo Nnewi Central Vigilante, Chief Chinenye Ihenkor of Anambra North Anambra Vigilante Group, Amene Oraegbunam of Onitsha and Osita Ndubueze from Okija were honoured and commended for their interventions, hard work and commitment to security in their areas.
Observation of a minute silence for Anambra Vigilante Group fallen member, the late Mr. Christopher Nzekwe-Ezeoke and award presentation also featured at the event.

SECURITY AND FORENSIC STUDIES NIGERIA MEDIA REPORT ON INAUGURATION AND FIRST SCIENTIFIC MEETING OF NiSHG


NIGERIAN SOCIETY OF HUMAN GENETICS

The first scientific meeting and inauguration of “The Nigeria Society for Human Genetics” was held on the 30th November, 2019 at DCL House, 12 fumilayo ransom kuti road, garki Abuja, Nigeria. The scientific program comprised of several scientific sessions. The goal was “Building Robust genetic and Genomics Infrastructure for National Development” and other research topics. The event was attended by some dignitries amongst whom the President of NiSHG Dr. Nnaemeka Ndodo, Dr. Mukesh Komal, Dr. Marco Flavio Vismara, Dr. Idowu Aimola and other medical professionals.

The Nigeria Society of Human Genetics (NiSHG) is a professional society of Geneticists, molecular scientists, biomedical scientists, life scientists, nurses, physicians, pharmacist and other committed to the use of interdisciplinary methodology and knowledge of genetics for study of the human development and diseases. The society promotes the integration of genetics and genomics in life science research, teaching, and patient care efforts in Nigeria. The programme begins with the arrival, registration and introduction of guest, opening address and a presentation by Dr. Nnaemeka Ndodo Darlington, PhD; M. S


Presentation by the President NiSHG Dr. Nnaemeka Ndodo


Dr. Ndodo is currently the chief Molecular Bioengineer at the National Reference Laboratory, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Abuja. He is also the current President of NiSHG. Dr. Ndodo research/presentation was basically on Building robust genetic and genomics infrastructure for national development and also briefly talked the vision and mission of NiSHG. “The vision is to build an informed society with sufficient knowledge of genetics, genomics, bioinformatics and other ‘omic’ sciences to positively drive development in health care, life sciences education and research in Nigeria”. The objectives of the society will be to leverage emerging and cutting –edge technologies to advance genetics and genomic science and influence such policies in Nigeria. He further talked about the mission of NISHG “It will also support the building strong genetic and genomics institutions of Nigeria; the society will strive to encourage genetic, molecular and genomic knowledge-driven economy by the array of training”.
Other researchers also made presentation such as Dr. Marco Flavio Vismara the guest speaker is a Chief Medical Technology Officer, M.D Geneticist specialized in medical genetics, is an expert in rare diseases, high technology laboratory settings, and precision medicine. His presentation talked about “Non disruptive analysis of biochemical phenotype in rare diseases.

Presentation by Dr. Idowu Aimola

Idowu Aimola a biochemist and developmental biologist research which he presented is focused on the mechanisms of human and mammalian cell development in health and diseases with the ultimate goal of identifying new therapeutic opportunities. He is particularly interested in understanding linage fate decision programs of developing cells.  

Interview section with Dr. Mukesh Kumar, MB (ASCP)

Dr. Mukesh Kumar, MB (ASCP) who is a Molecular Scientist and Technical Director of Center for Molecular Science and Genetic Studies was interviewed in course of the programme talked about Everight Diagnostic & Laboratory Service Limited which is also known as Center for Molecular Science and Genetics Studies. The Center of Molecular Science and Genetic Studies is a state-of-the-art medical research facility developed by Everight Diagnostic & Laboratory Service Ltd in African continent. He further stated that they aim to provide a one roof solution for all the diagnostic needs of people also to focus on continuous improvement of the Healthcare status in the country”. “We understand the need to reinvent the skills and expertise in healthcare sector in Africa and the challenges of inadequate technology with the use of the latest technologies and highly experienced professionals”. Dr. Mukesh Kumar stated that the challenges are high in Nigeria, but he and his company is working hard to meet up the world to improve healthcare conditions of Nigeria peoples through innovation in the Molecular Diagnosis. Base on his little experience, Nigeria as a developing country currently facing huge challenges, however, as a representative Everight, the promise to deliver world class services to everyone.
