WITH

DIRECTOR GENERAL SECURITY AND FORENSIC STUDIES NIGERIA (CHARTERED FORENSIC INSTITUTE)

MR. JOSEPH UZUAKPUNDU (HOST) DEVELOPMENT ZONE

ON

BOJ TV NIGERIA.

The interview was held at the Head Office of Security and Forensic Studies Nigeria (Chartered Forensic Institute) in Abuja on Wednesday 8th February, 2022. The Interview was anchored by Mr. Joseph Uzuakpundu (Host) Development Zone BOJ TV Nigeria.

Director General of Security and Forensic Studies Nigeria (Chartered Forensic Institute) during an interview session with BOJ TV Nigeria.

The Director General of Security and Forensic Studies Nigeria (Chartered Forensic Institute) spoke on “His Take On the Security Implications of the New Naira Note and why Nigerians Need to Vote Wisely”.

He started by educating the general public on how Security and Forensic Studies Nigeria (Chartered Forensic Institute) came on board, he said the Institute was initiated during the need of developmental standard of the country. He also said the practice history of Forensic came on board in Nigeria because of the need for establishment of electronic generated evidence admissible in court, the legislation was made in Nigeria for the practice of Electronic Generated Evidence to be admitted in Court and the National Assembly passed the Bill and was signed into law in 2011. He said when the law was made, he was part of the people that came on board to fine tune the practice of Forensic in Nigeria and that today the Institute have above 7,000 individuals that are expert in various fields while about 10 individuals were trained outside the country. He also said the Institute has helped in so many ways in curtailing crime rate in Nigeria.

He also spoke on the redesign of Naira note is targeted at reducing criminal activities in Nigeria and would also help in curbing a lot of economic instability especially in the market sector generally. He said if the practice is fully implemented, it would help to equate the exchange rate of Naira to Dollar to 100/100 to meet up with international standard. He stated that the redesign of Naira note was long overdue and its implementation is not targeted towards any individual or politician but targeted to the people defrauding the government.

He advised Nigerians to bear with the government that in a short while the crisis would be over and it would be beneficial to everyone. He added that since the implementation of new Naira Note insecurity issues such as kidnapping, theft, robbery and other criminal activities has drastically minimized. He urges the federal Government and Central Bank of Nigeria to implement the policy to the latter. Crime related activities should be checkmated and defaulters should be brought to book. He further advises that the deadline should not be extended as the time frame given by CBN is enough and that Bank should be checkmated to avoid the hurdling and sales of the New Naira Note, any bank manager caught selling money or refuses to release money should be arrested and the bank should be sanctioned accordingly.

He further stated that the redesign of naira note would help in reducing vote buying in Nigeria during the forth-coming election. He said that vote buying and selling is a crime, that politics is not about spending money but telling people about your intentions of what one can do and being voted for based on credibility, justice equity and fairness. He also said that during the Electoral ACT Amendment, forensic practice was consulted in National Assembly public hearing and the members of National Assembly were educated on how forensic practice would come in for the amendment, out of the Three instances and basic activities of forensic in reducing the cost effect and security risk of security personnel, lives of the INEC staff in the field but one was picked for transmission of result through electronic medium process. He added that INEC officials are undergoing training on the use of Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS). The electorates most especially those in the rural areas are also been trained on how to vote especially on how to thumb print.

Dr. (Amb) Okocha Morgan also spoke about his political perspective and declared his support for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, he further stated that he does not need any penny from him that his support for him is based on what he has done and his credibility he declared his readiness to support him financially as the National Chairman Tinubu / Shettima Grassroots Mandate, he also said that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was the first person who implemented Single Treasury Account which is a measure to curb criminal activities in the country. He added that the redesign of naira note would not in any way effect the campaign of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu because all machineries has been put in place and he has people who are ready to vote for him based on his credibility unlike some presidential aspirants and political parties who rented crowds and displayed doctored videos during their campaign rally, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has his original crowd, people who are willing to vote for him based on the trust they have in him. When he was the governor of Lagos State, as a governor he developed the state to local government level, he gave room for implementation of policies and given autonomy to local government he also sponsored major projects in Lagos State by raising revenue from the state without seeking funds from the Federal government.

He concluded by saying he believe the election is going to be free, fair and credible, he credited Mr. President for accepting to endorse the recent Electoral ACT that was made.
